Councilmember Koretz has been recognized as a leader on climate action in Los Angeles.
Councilmember Koretz joined Vice President Biden and Mayor Garcetti at the 2015 U.S.-China Climate Leaders Summit.
From the White House website:The U.S.-China Summit fulfilled "a key element of the U.S.-China Joint Announcement on Climate Change by Presidents Obama and Xi in November, 2014, and helped to ensure that the ambitious actions to address climate change that both leaders committed to will be implemented at the state and local level, where they matter most." The Declaration signed by a diverse set of U.S. cities and states “is the first of its kind between multiple community leaders from the United States and China to take parallel steps to address climate change at the state and local level, and is a concrete statement of intent by city, state and provincial leaders to implement ambitious, verifiable actions to address climate change and simultaneously to support and expand bilateral cooperation and dialogue.

Billionaire philanthropist and climate activist, Tom Steyer, joined Councilmember Koretz and co-host David Nahai, at a gathering of Jewish Community leaders concerned about the rapidly-worsening climate crisis.
The breakfast was held, appropriately enough, at local CD-5 favorite, Lenny’s Deli in Westwood.
After a terrific and high-level discussion, the group all agreed that the Jewish community as a whole needed to become much more engaged in climate change, both politically and personally and that they wanted to keep these gatherings going. COMMITMENT TO A SECURE FUTURE
